Inviting all our UKRI award holders, in this session we will cover the importance of making research data as open as possible while managing necessary restrictions keeping in line with UKRI's expectations and guidelines.

In this session we will go through:
  • Best Practices and Standards: Data management policies and plans should adhere to best practices and standards, ensuring that data with long-term value remains accessible. Researchers must ensure that data sharing practices comply with all legal, ethical, disciplinary, and commercial requirements throughout the research lifecycle.
  • Metadata: Proper documentation and availability of metadata are crucial to make data discoverable and reusable by other researchers.
  • Council-Specific Policies: Award holders must adhere to the data sharing policies of the specific UKRI research council funding their work, such as AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC, and STFC.

UKRI promotes transparent, accessible, and responsibly managed research data. Researchers are encouraged to develop robust data management plans, align with best practices, and make their data as open as possible, contributing to a collaborative and efficient research environment.
